Tomorrow’s Perfect Weather: December 30th, 2024

I’ve updated the classification for perfect weather. The scale now emphasizes differences at the lower end, with fewer spots reaching the top. Wind plays a larger role too. For instance, tomorrow in northern Texas, all elements except wind are ideal, but gusts over 30 mph knocked many areas far from 10s. Across Texas, the new stricter wind penalty has dropped several areas by one or two categories.
Looking ahead to Monday, a significant storm moving through the northern Rockies will bring harsh weather to Montana and the Colorado mountains. Widespread snow, strong winds, and cold temperatures will make for challenging travel conditions.
On the brighter side, the Valley of the Sun will truly shine tomorrow! The Phoenix metro area and the deserts of southern Arizona are set for a perfect 10/10. Here’s a few things to do to take advantage of the spectacular weather:
- Hiking in the Superstition Mountains – Explore scenic trails like the Peralta Trail for stunning views of the desert landscape, saguaro cacti, and unique rock formations.
2. Visiting Saguaro National Park – Take in the beauty of the iconic saguaro cactus forests on the park’s short hikes or scenic drives. The park is ideal for wildlife spotting and photography.

3. Exploring the Sonoran Desert Museum – This outdoor museum near Tucson combines zoo, botanical garden, and natural history elements, offering an immersive desert experience.
4. Cycling in Tucson – Tucson boasts numerous bike-friendly trails like The Loop, a 131-mile network of paved paths that wind through picturesque desert landscapes.
5. Stargazing in Kitt Peak National Observatory – With clear skies and minimal light pollution, this world-renowned observatory offers nightly stargazing programs, perfect for astronomy enthusiasts.
Even southern California’s deserts and the lowest elevations of Death Valley, like Badwater Basin, could reach 10s. After a stormy stretch, calmer weather will prevail across Georgia, with pockets of perfect 10s.
